MLB To Announce 2020 All-Star Game in L.A.

The 2020 MLB All-Star Game is coming to Los Angeles for the first time since 1980. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is expected to make the announcement at Dodger Stadium later today.

This year's All-Star Game is set to be played at Nationals Park. Next year, the All-Star Game is set to be held by the Cleveland Indians. By tradition, the MLB has tried to alternate between National League and American League cities.

It's the first time the Dodgers have hosted the All-Star Game since 1980, but the event has come to Southern California multiple times since then. The Angels hosted it in 1989, and again in 2010, while the San Diego Padres hosted in 1992 at Jack Murphy Stadium and again at Petco Park in 2016. Only nine teams have hosted the game twice.

Dodgers co-owner Magic Johnson tweeted out the news yesterday, celebrating the news, then quickly deleted it before the official announcement today.
