A sign posted at Santa Ana's Plaza of the Flags says that starting Monday night, no overnight camping will be permitted within the Civic Center Campus in an effort to clear out the more than 200 people who have set up camp within the plaza.
"I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just depressed, I'm sad, I'm confused..." one homeless person told KFI's Andrew Mollenbeck.
Rows of tents have been set up by people on the Santa Ana Civic Center grounds beneath a ring of flags that represent Orange County's cities.
Orange County spokeswoman Jen Nentwig say health workers are there to offer help and solutions for those camping in the plaza. "Connections to mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment and recuperative care for people who might have physical health needs," Nentwig said.
U.S District Judge David Carter has ruled that Orange County needs to relocate those people living in the plaza, just as the county did for the more than 700 who were evicted from the Santa Ana riverbed back in February.
Santa Ana Deputy Chief Ken Gominsky, said officers won't take action for awhile.
"Nobody's going to be forced to leave here until they have had several opportunities and options presented to them from the county," Gominsky said.
