The Los Angeles Police Department says they'll be on high alert while President Trump is in Southern California this afternoon.
Trump is scheduled to tour a site in San Diego where several border wall prototype designs have been erected and undergoing tests. Companies were paid between $300,000 and $500,000 to build the massive structures.
The president calling out California's sanctuary policies ahead of his visit in a series of posts while en-route to the Golden State.
He tweeted this morning that California's laws protecting illegal immigrants are putting "the safety and security of our entire nation at risk" and that "Thousands of dangerous & violent criminal aliens are released as a result of santuary policies, set free to prey on innocent Americans."
He finished his missive with an all-caps message: "THIS MUST STOP!"
So far, at least one large protest is planned ahead of the president's arrival in Beverly Hills this afternoon. Union del Barrio, a political group, has scheduled their protest at 5:00 p.m. at Beverly Gardens Park on Santa Monica Boulevard.
The protest is expected to draw thousands of people, organizers say. They are calling for people to "drive him (the president) out of Los Angeles."
The LAPD says there will be a heavy police presence deployed throughout the city, and the department will be "ready for anything."
The president is scheduled to land at LAX around 3:30 p.m. where he will head for a home in Beverly Hills or Bel Air to attend a Republican fundraiser.
President Trump is expected to spend the night at the Hotel Intercontinental in downtown L.A. and return to Washington D.C. tomorrow morning.
