LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped one-tenth of a cent today to $3.423, one day after decreasing two-tenths of a cent.
The average price is one-tenth of a cent more than one week ago and 36.3 cents higher than one year ago but 1.5 cents less than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has risen 27.3 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $3.385 one day after decreasing four-tenths of a cent. It is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 2.8 cents lower than one month ago but 32.7 cents higher than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has risen 26.9 cents since the start of the year.
``The state's refineries have produced very high levels of California summer blend gasoline for this early in the year, but are apparently holding on to this inventory for future demand, keeping pump prices steady,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
