Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has been held in Afghanistan by the Taliban since June 30, 2009.

This weekend, he was released after negotiations via Qatar, ensured the release of five, high-ranking Taliban prisoners from Guantanamo Bay. Read more about the Gitmo prisoners released HERE

He is currently at a military hospital in Germany.  A defense official says he will undergo what is called a "reintegration process" which will give him time to "decompress, and reconnect with his family."

Some of Bowe's fellow soldiers have criticized his release, saying that Bergdahl is a deserter, not a hero.  They say that six soldiers have died in searches for Berghdahl after he disappeared.  They also claim that Berghdal 'walked off his post' one day and never returned.  Read that story HERE

Many are questioning the Obama administration's efforts to release him, saying that the U.S. should NOT negotiate with terrorists.  Read that story HERE

Back in 2012, Rolling Stone did a piece on Bergdahl, where they detailed some emails from Bergdahl to his family where he told them he no longer supported the U.S. effort in Afghanistan. Read the 2012 Rolling Stone piece HERE
