A study by the Brookings Institution finds the U.S. economy is less entrepreneurial now than at any point in the last three decades.  

The think tank looked at the rate by which businesses were created, as well as when they were shut down, dating back to 1978. 

The review found that new business creation decreased by 50 percent from 1978 to 2011. From 2009 to 2011, businesses were shutting down faster than where being created.
