LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A fire damaged a vacant house in the East Hollywood area Tuesday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 1100 block of North Berendo Street at 9:19 a.m. extinguished the flames in the boarded-up building in 19 minutes, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The 1,306-square-foot single-story house, which was build in 1919, was "filled and surrounded with debris," Humphrey said in a statement.

"Flames were confined to the structure of fire origin, as well as (to) vegetation to the rear," Humphrey said. "A comprehensive search of the debris-filled structure discovered no injured persons."

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
