Suspect Arrested in Deaths of Three Young Children in Reseda

RESEDA (CNS) - Police have confirmed that a 30-year-old woman arrested in Tulare County for the killing of three young children whose bodies were found at a Reseda apartment today was their mother, and considered the sole suspect.

Liliana Carrillo was arrested in the Ponderosa area of Tulare County, east of Porterville, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Cervantes said about 2:30 p.m.

Police said all the children appeared to be under the age of 5, and were found in the 8000 block of Reseda Boulevard, near Strathern Street, after the deaths were reported about 9:30 a.m., according to Cervantes.

“Officers responded to a death investigation of three victims who were found deceased,'' Cervantes said. “The cause of death has yet to be determined, as well as motive.''

According to NBC4 and ABC7, which both cited police sources, the victims were found by their grandmother and had been stabbed to death.

NBC4 reported the children's ages were 3, 2 and 6 months.

“My heart is broken,'' Dayna Campbell, a resident in the Reseda neighborhood, told NBC4. “Every time I see news about children like this, my heart breaks in pieces. And now, it's like right in front of my building. It's unbelievable.''

Another neighbor, Mishal Hashimi, told NBC4: “Leave the house, leave the children, leave your family or whatever, but don't harm children.''

The LAPD reported early Saturday afternoon that Carrillo may have carjacked a silver Toyota pickup in the Bakersfield area.
