Brush Fire Scorches About 10 Acres in Acton Area

ACTON (CNS) - A fire scorched about 10 acres of brush near Acton today, but firefighters stopped its forward progress within about an hour and no structures were damaged.

Firefighters were sent to the 33000 block of Merritt Road at about noon and battled the flames from the ground and from aircraft.

At least one structure was reportedly threatened. About 1 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that the fire's forward progress had been stopped

“Fire was held at 10 acres,'' the fire department tweeted. “No structures damaged. No injuries to civilians or firefighters.''

Los Angeles County was under a red flag warning for extreme fire danger until 5 p.m. Monday due to high temperatures, low humidity and moderate Santa Ana winds.
