Average L.A. County Gas Price Rises to Highest Amount Since Jan. 3

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today to its highest amount since Jan. 3, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.369.

The average price has increased eight of the past nine days, rising 1.9 cents, including one-tenth of a cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.7 cents more than one week ago and 3.7 cents more than one month ago but 9.4 cents less than one year ago.

The average price has dropped 2.2 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.317, one day after rising to its highest amount since Jan. 4. It is 1.2 cents more than one week ago and 1.9 cents higher than one month ago, but 10.7 cents less than one year ago. The Orange County average price has dropped 3.2 cents since the start of the year.

The decrease ended a run of seven increases in eight days totaling 1.7 cents, including a half-cent on Wednesday.
