Reported Sex Assault Near Cypress College Is Bogus, Police Say

CYPRESS (CNS) - Cypress police announced today that a reported sexual assault near Cypress College turned out to be unfounded. Police were called at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 28 to investigate a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted Aug. 31 near the college, said Cypress police Sgt. Scott Ausmus.

In a statement, police said it was ``disappointing that someone would falsely report something like this and raise the level of fear on the campus and draw suspicion to an innocent person.''

Despite the result of the investigation, police said it is important that sexual assault victims report incidents to police.
