L.A. Gas Prices Drop For Eighth Consecutive Day

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the eighth consecutive day, decreasing a half-cent to $3.178.

The average price has dropped 1.8 cents over the past eight days, including two-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The decreases follow a run of 16 increases in 17 days totaling 18.2 cents.

The average price is 1.7 cents less than one week ago but 16.7 cents higher than one month ago and 39.5 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the seventh time in eight days, decreasing a half-cent to $3.154. It has decreased 2.1 cents over the past eight days, including one-tenth of a cent on Monday.

The decreases follow a 13-day streak of increases totaling 16.8 cents to its highest amount since Sept. 18, 2015.

The Orange County average price is 1.7 cents less than one week ago but 17.2 cents higher than one month ago and 39.3 cents more than one year ago.

“Gas prices are stable at the moment but there is every indication they should start dropping further in coming days and weeks,'' Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
