PALMDALE (CNS) - Nearly 120 personnel from the sheriff's department simultaneously served 13 warrants in Palmdale today, aimed at arresting members of a local gang which had been assaulting, robbing and burglarizing residents for some time. 

There were nine arrests -- six juveniles and three adults. The adults arrested were 19-year-old Ryan Vigil, arrested for suspicion of burglary, 18- year-old James Span, arrested for suspicion of assault, and 34-year-old Melodie  Gray, arrested for parole violations.  

The names of the juveniles arrested were not released because of their ages. 

A gun was recovered as was suspected pieces of stolen property. One suspect sought during the operation is still outstanding.  

Members of the county's probation department and the Department of Child and Family Services, also participated in the serving of warrants, said Lt. Larry Gregg of the Antelope Valley Crime Fighting Initiatives. Joining in were    

Gregg said that the operation was necessary “as these juveniles have been on a crime spree for some time.”  

“They have committed robberies in he local park, burglarized cars and homes, sometimes while the residents were sleeping,” Gregg said.         

Businesses were also targeted by “flocking” techniques, where mass groups create distractions as others steal, Gregg said.  

Some of the crimes were posted as videos on social media websites.
