MISSION: The Stand Up For Pits Foundation is a [non-profit organization] dedicated to ending abuse, discrimination and saving the lives of pit bull "type" dogs nationwide. In addition to educating, advocating and front line rescue efforts SUFP funds and operates LA County's dogfighting tip line. SUFP networks and helps place dogs in need of loving homes and raises thousands of dollars worth of shelter supplies nationwide annually. SUFP's national Spay & Neuter Angel Day initiative started April 2nd, 2016. This massive effort now happens all year-round helping pit bull type dogs and their humans in underserved communities. SUFP has marched on Washington, tours, does press, live shows and creates programs to educate, inspire and help save lives. Skid Row is an area of approximately 50 square blocks located just east of downtown Los Angeles. Also known as Central City East, the area has a longstanding history as a residential neighborhood for those with the least. Skid Row is a residing place for approximately 4,000-5,000 homeless individuals. Many of these people suffer from mental illness and drug addiction.
Skid Row in Los Angeles is filled with caged, abused, neglected, and chained dogs. Many of these dogs are made to suffer in the sun without access to adequate water, food, and shade.
The coverings in video and photos on this petition were placed there by good Samaritans on August 5th, 2023.The serious complications of heatstroke in dogs include rhabdomyolysis, neurological damage and dysfunction, acute kidney injury (AKI), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), hepato-biliary damage, sepsis, acute pancreatitis and DIC.
