Ohio Morticians Will Preserve Loved Ones Tattooed Skin as Artwork

Most people want something to remember a loved one who has passed on...

Maybe it's a photo of them, a piece of jewelry or clothing they always wore...but what about something a little deeper.

Like literally skin deep.

There's a father-son mortician duo in Ohio that have developed a process that preserves someone's skin and their tattoos after they die.

Micheal Sherwood and his son Kyle say the idea came to them after talking with a friend who wished he could preserve the matching tattoo he got with his recently deceased father.

Kyle says they laughed it off, but after the friend persisted they decided to see if something like that was possible.

“With the art in tattoos and how much they mean to people, why not keep them after they die? People put ashes in urns on mantles and visit stones with their loved one’s names on them. Why not keep their tattoos as a memorial?”

He and his father launched their business, Save My Ink Forever, which preserves the tattoo in a way that Kyle says won't interfere with traditional viewings or cremation.
