Congressional Candidate Records Bathroom Confrontation

Jazmina Saavedra is a GOP candidate for Congress for L.A.'s 44th district.  She's challenging the Democratic incumbent Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragan.

Saavedra says California politicians are endangering women every day with laws that permit trans people to use restrooms that correspond to the gender they identify with and she has proof.

This week, she posted Facebook live video to her page that shows her confronting such a patron at a busy local Denny's.

Saavedra says in the video that she was trying to use the ladies room, but was told that a man was using it.

So, she put her cellphone on a selfie stick, fired up Facebook live and decided to confront them.

You can see the entire confrontation in the video below.

Saavedra claims that the person using the bathroom claimed to be a woman, but she didn't buy it and insisted that the person should be using the men's room.  A Denny's manager can be seen trying to get the person to leave the restroom and eventually escorts them out.  Saavedra then continued her confrontation until the person left the restaurant.

The person in question did not specifically identify themselves as transgender or otherwise, but did indicate in the video that Saavedra has apparently singled them out before.

Saavedra is heard saying in the video:

“I was with my pepper spray ready and I called the manager so he helped me. How can I be with a man inside of the ladies’ room just because he thinks he’s a lady? This is unbelievable. Only in California this happens.”

Her challenger, Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragan issued a statement about the incident saying:

"I was appalled by the treatment that this woman received for simply trying to use the restroom. Everyone has the right to their own identity, and the right not to be discriminated against for who they are."
