The voice and puppeteer behind the beloved green frog is leaving the show after nearly 30 years in the role.
Steve Whitmire has been the voice behind Kermit since 1990 in the different Muppets television shows and movies, but has decided to leave the role.
Fellow puppeteer Matt Vogel will take over the role.
Vogel worked with the Muppets since the 1990s and was in the 2014 movie, Muppets Most Wanted as Constantine, a Kermit imitator.
Muppets Studio spokespeople have confirmed Whitmire's exit, but have not said why he left.
He had been in control of Kermit since the 90s following the death of Muppets creator Jim Henson.
Vogel's first performance as Kermit will come in a Muppets Thought of the Week video next week.
