In response to Canada's new Online News Act, Google declared on Thursday that it will ban Canadian news from its platforms.
The bill accuses businesses like Google and Facebook of profiting from adverts while newsrooms fought to stay afloat and demands that they pay media outlets for news articles shared on digital platforms.
Google claims that just for Canadian users will news links be removed from Google Search, Google News, and Google Discover.
Similar intentions to restrict news items on Facebook have already been made public in Canada.
