Two 10-year-olds were among 300 children who worked at 3 McDonald's restaurants in Louisville, Kentucky with little or no pay. The owners have been fined $212,000 by the labor department which is investigating child labor abuse in the southeast.
At one specific McDonald's the kids worked until as late as 2 a.m.
And what was the work the children were doing?
- Prepared and distributed food orders
- Cleaned the store
- Worked at the drive-thru window
- Operated a register
- One of them was also allowed to operate a deep fryer, (a task prohibited for workers under the age of 16 under federal law).
