There's a local veterinary hospital that is suggesting LA residents get backyard chickens to combat the rise in egg prices.
The Shiloh Veterinary Hospital is informing residents that in most neighborhoods in Los Angeles, backyard chickens are allowed. However, residents need to keep these things in mind:
- Chicken coops need to be at least 35 feet from neighboring structures
- If one has a rooster, it has to be around 100 feet from neighboring structures
- Residents are only allowed to have one rooster
- Raising chicks requires keeping them clean and well-fed with chick starter feed
