San Francisco Approves Police Robots That Can Kill

San Francisco's Board of Supervisors just approved a policy that will allow police to operate robots that can use deadly force. The robots would only be used "in extreme circumstances" when the public or officers are in life-and-death situations. The robots will be remote-controlled by San Francisco police officers and are very similar to the robots that are used for diffusing bombs and removing hazardous waste. The robots however will be capable of shooting 12-gauge shotgun shells and could potentially be outfitted with other deadly weapons in the future. Currently, the city has twelve of these robots.
