Valerie Jarrett Responds to Roseanne’s Tweet and Show Cancellation

Valerie Jarret responds to Roseanne Barr's racist tweet. Former Obama advisor, Valerie Jarrett says, "This should be a teaching moment," in a preview of her appearance on MSNBC's "Everyday Racism in America," this evening at 9 pm. "Tone does start at the top and we like to look up to our president and feel as though he reflects the values of our country, but I also think every individual citizen has a responsibility too. And it's up to all of us to push back,"

Roseanne took responsibility for her tweet and said, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans, I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

On Tuesday (May 29), ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey announced that the network would be canceling the "Roseanne" reboot.

This news came after comedian and star of the now-former show Roseanne Barr tweeted that Former President Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett was the product of "Muslim Brotherhood" and the "Planet of the Apes." Many critics believed that Barr's message was racist. So, people pushed for the entertainment company to get rid of her show.

Once she saw the backlash she was getting from her tweet, Barr apologized and said that she was leaving Twitter. However, her words were too little, too late. Not too long after the backlash commenced, Dungey agreed to cancel "Roseanne." “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” the ABC Entertainment president said in an issued statement

Also, according to Variety, Barr's talent agency ICM Partners has officially dropped her as a client. “We are all greatly distressed by the disgraceful and unacceptable tweet from Roseanne Barr this morning,” ICM Partners said in a statement. “What she wrote is antithetical to our core values, both as individuals and as an agency. Consequently, we have notified her that we will not represent her. Effective immediately, Roseanne Barr is no longer a client.”

Since all of this, many people on social media have taken to their accounts to react to ABC getting rid of "Roseanne" and ICM Partners dropping her. Some of the social media users who are speaking out about the situation are everyday people, while others are celebrities, as well. One person even worked with Barr and voiced how disappointed she was in Barr's controversial tweet aimed at Jarrett.

Take a look at some of the many reaction tweets to the "Roseanne" reboot getting canceled below.
