More fallout for Roseanne Barr. Say goodbye to that residual money too!
Viacom and Hulu channels are pulling Roseanne reruns, confirmed by EW.
Paramount Network, TV Land, and CMT will all cease to air reruns of the series, while Hulu confirms it will remove the show from its library.
Star and co-creator Roseanne ignited a social media firestorm with her racist tweet early Tuesday morning.
Laff, (a digital network that specializes in reruns of popular sitcoms) official statement read -
“While we believe viewers have always distinguished the personal behavior of the actress Roseanne Barr from the television character Roseanne Conner, we are disgusted by Barr’s comments this week. Therefore, we are removing the original Roseanne series from the Laff schedule for the time being, effective immediately.”
ABC’s entertainment president, Channing Dungey, announced
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
The first season of Roseanne wrapped up last week after 9 episodes were filmed, three days after the premiere, ABC renews “Roseanne” for 13 more episodes.
Season 1 ratings were huge - Nielsen reported that 18.2 million viewers tuned in to watch it live ( the highest viewership of a comedy on broadcast TV since 2014). When delayed viewing is factored in, you know like DVR, the size of the audience reaches as many as 21.9 million.
