Dramatic photos have been released by a man who staged his own murder with the help of police, to catch his wife in a murder-for-hire plot.
Ramon Sosa, 50, from Houston TX got with detectives to gather proof that his wife had paid $2000 to have a hitman kill him.
Maria Sosa unknowingly tried to hire Gustavo* (pseudonym) a close friend of her husband's to perform that hit. Smart lady.
When asked Ramon Sosa said, 'I knew him, because I'd coached him. He'd been in trouble in the past, but had turned his life around.
'At first, when he called and said he needed to see me, because someone 'wanted to kill me,' I thought he was joking. Then we devised a plan, for him to wear a wire and tape her offering money to have me killed, before turning the evidence over to the cops.'
Ramon Sosa assumes that the hit was motivated by financial reasons, their business was not as successful and they had hoped.
Maria Sosa's plans did not go through as she had expected though. Gustavo hid a microphone in his shirt and recorded their next meeting and handed over the tapes to the Montgomery County Police Station.
After the recordings revealed that Gustavo had pretended to know two hit men who could do the job, the police asked Ramon to pretend to be dead so that Gustavo could show the pictures to Maria. With the help of the FBI, The Texas Rangers drove Ramon out to the desert and 'buried' him in a shallow grave after using red body paint to make it look like he had been shot in the head.
Ramon then hid in a hotel room for three days while an undercover police officer met with Maria to show her the pictures. The officer claims that she laughed when she saw them.
Maria Sosa pleaded guilty, waiving any rights to future appeal, to solicitation of murder and was jailed to 20 years in prison.
