A Wisconsin police officer went above and beyond to save the life of an 8-year-old child in need of a kidney transplant. Officer Lindsey Bittorf read a Facebook plea posted by Kristi Goll, a mother who was searching for potential donors for her son, Jackson Arneson.
Goll wrote in a Facebook post:
“I always knew these days would come, it’s just so hard when they are here. I have reached out before, I am just trying again to see if we can find anyone out there that would be interested in being tested. This would be the very best gift we could receive.”
Officer Bittorf was compelled to help Arneson after reading the post. She got tested and found that she was a match!
She surprised Jackson and his family at their home and said:
“I took an oath to serve and protect my community and now my kidney will serve and protect you.”
Officer Bittorf and Arneson had successful surgeries on June 22.
