So a guy walks into Logan International Airport with a 20-pound lobster in his checked luggage.
Is that ok?
Turns out...it is.
TSA spokesman Michael McCarthy (in an e-mail to the Globe) -
“I cannot speak to any airline policies, but TSA has no prohibition on transporting lobsters, it’s actually fairly common in the New England region.”
McCarthy shared the picture of the big ole lobster on Twitter being held by a TSA agent. McCarthy said the lobster was in a cooler, and was “alive and cooperated quite nicely with the screening process.”
The TSA’s website says that agents usually inspect the lobster before it is placed on a flight but you should always tell the airline before you arrive at the airport.
