The group IfNotNow, comprising dozens of protesters, orchestrated a demonstration on the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, demanding a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Their protest, starting at approximately 9:30 a.m., aimed to end U.S. support for Israel's actions in Gaza. IfNotNow identifies itself as a movement of American Jews advocating against American backing for Israel's war on Gaza.
This protest caused a huge congestion, affecting a large number of commuters beyond those directly affected by the freeway closure, creating widespread delays and inconvenience across the road network in Los Angeles.
The protesters rallied "demand that all of our elected officials call for a lasting ceasefire and an end to U.S. support for Israel's war on Gaza."
Protesters defied authorities' orders to disperse, insisting on remaining until they were personally handcuffed and taken into custody to confront legal consequences. According to the CHP, 75 individuals were arrested during the incident; subsequently, the traffic carried on at 10:30AM.
