Autoworkers at the three major automakers in Detroit have gone on strike after both sides could not reach an agreement. 13,000 workers are holding out for better pay from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. The automakers are raking in huge profits but cite the ongoing transition from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric ones as a reason why they can't afford pay increases for workers. UAW is seeking a 36% wage increase for autoworkers over a four-year period.
