Prison: Letter

A city council in Studio City is reeling from the fact they may have voted in a convicted sex offender. Ian Mitchell King is a self-described "non-practicing lawyer" and business consultant who joined the council in mid-August. King was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the sexual assault of a young woman while he was on duty as a school resource officer at a local school. After serving his entire sentence he was paroled in 2021. Some council members learned of King's past just before he was voted into the city council. But King was voted in as a member anyway on August 16th, and shortly after 11 of the 14 council members resigned. KTLA has reached out to King for a response; unsurprisingly, he has not responded.
