Four people have been arrested for ransacking a Macy's department store in Brea and calling a rideshare company to try and get away. Police were tipped off during the theft and waited for the crew outside the Brea Mall to follow them when they got into their getaway car Tuesday afternoon. A high-speed pursuit ensued after they peeled out of the parking lot. The suspects were able to evade police by driving recklessly through the streets.

The suspects ditched their car next to an elementary school and ordered a rideshare driver to come pick them up. While waiting for their ride the thieves went into a nearby dentist's office to hide from police until it arrived. One of them pretended to have a heart attack inside the office to buy some more time, but when the driver pulled up to their location she suddenly felt much better and they all ran out of the office and into the car. Police soon pulled over the car and detained everyone in the vehicle. The four thieves were arrested on multiple charges of theft and evading police. The rideshare driver was released after police realized they had nothing to do with the crime.
