The US Department of Transportation is investigating Southwest Airlines flight cancellations.
Travelers were stranded at airports around the country as a result of the cancellations, which occurred during a violent winter storm that killed scores of people.
Many airlines were forced to cancel flights, but Southwest was by far the worst offender, grounding around 2,900 domestic flights in the United States on Monday. Other large airlines, such as American, United, Delta, and JetBlue, have cancellation rates ranging from zero to 2%. Southwest Airlines had a 62% cancellation rate.
