The family of a 93-year-old woman who died after ingesting industrial strength cleaning solution at her assisted living home is filing a lawsuit.

Trudy Maxwell died of poisoning last month when she was given dishwashing liquid instead of juice at the Atria Park assisted living home in San Mateo, California... Two other residents also ingested the chemicals and one other also died.

Atria issued a statement saying they were conducting an internal investigation, and that all employees involved had been suspended.

An attorney for Maxwell’s family said, "There's no conceivable way that dishwashing liquid should make its way to a beverage glass. That's a violation of every basic principle of nursing home care. The most basic principle is you're there to protect the safety and well-being of the patient.”
