As expected, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation on Thursday -- though he remains in office for now.
Speaking in front of 10 Downing Street, Johnson told supporters "I want to tell you how sorry I am to be giving up the best job in the world".
He said he plans to stay on as prime minister until the Conservative Party chooses a new leader. A timetable for that process will be decided on Monday.
Johnson's decision follows a string of resignations from his cabinet, in protest of a sexual harassment scandal involving lawmaker Chris Pincher.
