This may not be the news you may want to hear, but Los Angeles County is very close to reinstating the indoor mask mandate due to increasing hospitalizations.

As COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations are on the rise across Los Angeles County, officials are now urging Angelenos to wear masks before they mandate masks indoors - a decision that could happen by the end of the month.

If LA County were to reach the CDC's "high" virus activity category by the end of the month, the indoor mask mandate would make its immediate return.

Officials are doing everything they can currently to prevent another mask mandate... "How?" you may be asking... By urging residents to put on masks to prevent further spread of the virus.

Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer recently said that if the number of COVID hospitalizations continue to rise at the same pace it has risen in the past two weeks, Los Angeles would enter the CDC's "high" virus activity category.

"I do want to encourage everybody to use your masks now,"

Ferrer continued by saying:

"... We don't have to wait until things get much worse."

With more people across Los Angeles getting sick, COVID-19 emergency room visits are up six percent and that statistic is alarming.

If numbers continue to rise, an indoor mask mandate is seemingly imminent for Angelenos.
