Over the weekend, news broke that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband was arrested for DUI in Napa County, but we now know the details leading to his arrest.
82-year-old Paul Pelosi was arrested Saturday night after he blew past a stop sign and hit another driver. Pelosi was apparently five-miles south of his home at the time of the car accident.
Pelosi was trying to cross Route 29 in Napa County as he drove his 2021 Porsche - he did not stop at a stop sign when he hit a 2014 Jeep.
Luckily neither were injured during the collision.
Following the collision, Pelosi was booked into the Napa County Detention Center and was charged with one count of driving under the influence and other count of driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher, according to the online booking report.
Both of the charges are considered misdemeanors.
Pelosi posted $5,000 bail and was released the following morning at 7:26 AM.
You may be asking yourself, "where was Nancy Pelosi during all of this?" - well, she was in Rhode Island preparing to deliver a commencement speech at Brown University on Sunday morning.
Nancy Pelosi's spokesperson Drew Hammill released a statement:
“The speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,”
