The California legislature and Governor Jerry Brown have agreed to set aside $30 million for "Dreamers'" financial aid and legal services, after President Trump decided to cancel the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
This comes just one day after state Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed a lawsuit against President Trump for his DACA decision.
An additional $10 million will go to young illegal immigrants. Most of that money will go to community college students, while $3 million has been earmarked for loan programs at California State University and the University of California.
$20 million will go to nonprofits that contract with the state to help people renew or apply for their DACA status.
