A Florida woman was arrested for driving while drunk with her 3-year-old child in the back seat without a seatbelt.
West Palm Beach deputies pulled over Brandy Lerma after another driver reported seeing a car swerving down the road with an unrestrained child in the back.
The witness, Juan Martinez, said he was worried Lerma was "going to kill someone."
As the deputy approached the car, he said the child was standing up in the back seat:
"I immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person. Lerma's speech was also slurred and she was initially unable to locate the documents I requested from her despite the fact that they were plainly visible to me inside her wallet."
Lerma was asked to perform field sobriety tests but she fell on the ground twice. Her blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.
She told the deputy that she had "two fireball drinks" plus Percocet, Xanax, a sedative, and a pain killer. Lerma was taken to Palm Beach County Jail on charges including DUI and child abuse. She was released on a $3,000 bond.
