Josh Newman recall election could happen this fall

There's some good news on the Josh Newman recall front! This week an appeals court delayed enforcement of a law created by the Democrats meant to slow down the recall process.

This means that a recall election could happen as soon as this fall. The new law from the Democrats would've pushed the election into next year, helping Newman out and making it easier for him to keep his seat.

Opponents of the recall change challenged the law in court, arguing that there's no legal justification for it to apply retroactively.

The change was a clear attempt to protect Newman. Newman's losing, the Democrats are losing, and they're getting scared.

The order from Justice Vance W. Raye requires state elections officials to set aside the new law until the case is resolved in court. The delay means that the recall election could happen in Newman's district in November.

Jon Coupal, President of the Howard Jarvis Taxypayers Association, told the L.A. Times:

"We're very pleased. This was an inappropriate action by the Legislature."
