A man from East Texas was wounded pretty bad after he shot at an armadillo in his backyard and the bullet ricocheted back and hit him in the face.
Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man went outside of his house around 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning, spotted the armored creature, and opened fire.
Rowe said:
"His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo."
The armadillo's hard shell bounced one of the bullets back at the man, striking him square in the jaw.
He had to be airlifted to the hospital where his jaw was sewed shut. The well-being of the armadillo is not know. Sheriff Rowe said:
"We didn't find the armadillo."
