A 57-year-old woman was blinded Sunday evening in a horrible bleach attack in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood.

She was sitting on a sidewalk when a man in his early 20s went up to her and poured bleach on her face. San Francisco officer Robert Rueca said:

“She was sitting down when a man approached her and told her to get up and go away, and then he walked away. He returned back to her with a cup in his hand — she believed it was bleach — and poured it on her, causing her to lose vision.”

The woman was rushed to a hospital. Police say no arrests have been made and did not specify whether the victim's blindness was permanent or temporary.

There was no address for her listed in the police report, which could indicate that she is homeless. The attack took place about 6 blocks from the spot where a San Francisco police officer was attacked with bleach in 2016.
