Riverside guitar teacher charged with lewd acts with a child

A guitar teacher at a Riverside Guitar Center has been arrested and charged with lewd acts and sodomy with a child under 14-years-old. Now, a woman who says she was is coworker is speaking out against Guitar Center.

Marie Strassenburg recorded a video accusing the company of failing to alert the parents children who may have been taught by the man.

On July 28th Riverside Police announced that Nathaniel Hernandez had been arrested by a SWAT team the previous day, about 3 weeks after an investigation started.

27-year-old Hernandez was charged with 5 counts of a lewd act with a child under 14, and 1 count of sodomy with a child under 14.

A release from the Riverside Police Department read:

"Due to Hernandez’ access to children, it is believed there could be other victims who have not yet come forward."

3 days after Hernandez's arrest, coworker Marie Strassenburg posted a video to Facebook saying that that Guitar Center Moreno Valley manager told her to "keep quiet," and pretend that Hernadez was out sick:

“We thought nothing of it until bounty hunters came in looking for him. When I found out he was wanted by the police, we both pressed the store manager to get in touch with the parents and the students that used to be Nathaniel’s and he refused. He told us to keep it to ourselves, to keep it quiet.”

Hernandez has a previous felony conviction. He was convicted of burglary in 2008 and was sentence to 3 years of probation.

Marie Strassenburg joined us this afternoon to talk about what happened:
