The Washington Post reported on Friday that the Trump administration is thinking about expanding the Department of Homeland Security's authority to speed up deportations for illegal aliens.

Under current policies, DHS can expedite the deportations of illegals who have been in the country for less than 2 weeks and are held within 100 miles of the border.

A memo obtained by the Post says it would allow DHS to circumvent immigration courts for the removal of illegal aliens apprehended anywhere in the country, and who can't prove they've been in the U.S. for more than 90 days.

The proposal wouldn't need congressional approval.

Trump is also thinking about changing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which extends deportation protections to illegal aliens who came into the U.S. as children.
