Abby's Bucket List

It's not a secret that I love dogs.  I have three.  You should know them by now.

Princess, who is 11.

Roxy, who is 13.

And Buffy, who is 19 years old.

People ask me know I know Buffy is that old.  Well, she and Roxy were my mother-in-law and father-in-law's dogs....they came to live with us three years ago after my mother-in-law died and my father-in-law moved into assisted living.  So, based on how long I've known my husband and his parents, she's 19, I met her first back in 1998 after they found her as a stray, and she was almost a year old at that time.

So, I have a special place in my heard for dogs getting up there in years.  If I ever win the lottery, I swear I would open up a big hospice for older dogs and care for them until they pass away.  As hard as that would be, I think it's what animals deserve before they cross the Rainbow Bridge to wait for us until we get there.

I know Buffy's time is short and is literally day by day, and I deal with it the best I can.  So far, she's given me no solid reason to make the dreaded decision that so many dog owners know they'll have to make eventually, although some days have been close, but she always bounces bad.  I really hope that one morning that I wake up and she will have passed away peacefully in her bed, that would be the best thing that could happen, but it doesn't always work that way.

Which brings me to Abby The Whippet.

Abby is 16 years old and her dad, Mark, knows, as all dog owners know, that Abby is slowing down and time is limited....so what did he do?  He decided to create a 'Bucket List' for Abby and travel with her to check everything off the list.

They're making a movie about it, called 'Abby's List: A Dogumentary'.  Check out the trailer below....grab some tissues, because it'll make you tear up...in a good way.

Good dog Abby..... Good Job Mark!
