Man in Van Arrested Following Standoff with Authorities in Malibu

MALIBU (CNS) - A man wanted for assault was arrested Wednesday after barricading himself in a van in Malibu, where a section of Pacific Coast Highway was closed for several hours as a precaution.

The standoff began early Wednesday in the Point Dume area near Zuma Beach, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and reports from the scene.

All lanes of PCH were closed from Heathercliff Road to Busch Drive, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes around the area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The man was arrested about 8:30 a.m., and the roadway was reopened about an hour afterward. The suspect's name was not immediately available.
