Man Killed in Shooting Involving Police in South Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was fatally wounded during a shooting involving police officers in South Los Angeles, where three people were detained following a vehicle pursuit, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting occurred at about 10:25 p.m. Saturday on 66th Street, west of Flower Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

A vice sergeant from the department's 77th Street station was on duty in plain clothes and in an unmarked police vehicle when the shooting occurred, according to police.

A suspect was struck by gunfire and rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A vehicle pursuit occurred after the shooting and three people have been detained, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
