Authorities ID Man Killed In Compton Party Shooting

COMPTON (CNS) - Authorities Monday identified a man who was fatally shot at a party at a residence in Compton where several other people were injured.

The shooting was reported about 8 p.m. Friday near Mayo Avenue and Greenleaf Boulevard, according to homicide Lt. Omar Camacho of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies reported seeing approximately 100 people leaving a residence. They were directed to the rear of the location and discovered a victim with apparent gunshot wounds who died at the scene, the sheriff's department reported.

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the fatally wounded man as Robert Abdelkader III, 28, of Compton

Witnesses at the scene told ABC7 that the shooting occurred at a pool party. Video from the scene showed deputies searching the backyard of a home for evidence.

Three women and two men were taken to a hospital to be treated for non- life-threatening injuries, according to the Compton Fire Department.  KCAL9 reported that a sixth victim walked into a hospital two hours after the shooting.

No suspect description was available.
