PASADENA (CNS) - A big rig driver is in custody Friday on suspicion of shooting at an off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sergeant on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena.
California Highway Patrol officers were called around 9 p.m. Thursday to the eastbound freeway, near the Allen Avenue off-ramp by the off-duty sergeant regarding a shots fired call. During the call, the sergeant said someone in a semi truck had fired gunshots at them, CHP Officer Erik Larsen told City News Service.
Responding CHP officers caught up with the sheriff's sergeant and the semi driver near the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway and Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, where they detained the semi driver, Larsen said.
No injuries were reported.
Video footage from the scene showed bullet holes in the rear of the sergeant's car.
The CHP closed the eastbound Foothill Freeway in the vicinity of the shooting for several hours while they searched for bullet casings and other possible evidence.
