SOUTH PASADENA (CNS) - Sheriff's detectives Wednesday are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman who was found inside a house in South Pasadena.
The stabbing was reported at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at 820 Brent Ave., near Mission Street, where South Pasadena Police Department officers found the victim, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Tracy Koerner told City News Service.
Sheriff's homicide Lt. Michael Modica told reporters the victim was found with stab wounds to the upper torso.
"The victim was discovered through kind of like a welfare check. Someone was inquiring," Modica said.
NBC 4 reported the victim, who was in her 70s, was found by her grandchildren.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's department will assist South Pasadena police with the investigation of the woman's death, Koerner said.
