AZUSA (CNS) - An 81-year-old man who was accused of endangering an Azusa neighborhood with a slingshot over the course of nearly a decade died at a private residence after being released from jail.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Prince King died Wednesday of natural causes, with his death attributed to heart disease.

King was arrested on May 23. According to Azusa police, "dozens of citizens were being victimized by a serial slingshot shooter" over the past nine to 10 years generally in the area of the 900 block of North Enid Avenue.

"The unknown suspect broke windows, windshields and almost struck people with ball bearings," according to police.

Police said that during King's arrest last week, investigators recovered ball bearings and a slingshot from his residence.

King was charged with seven counts of felony vandalism and appeared in court in West Covina on Tuesday, when he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was scheduled to return to court June 17, and he was released on his own recognizance.
