Antisemitic Graffiti Found in Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA (CNS) - Cleanup of antisemitic graffiti found in several locations in Santa Monica, including sidewalks, trees and light posts, is expected to be completed Monday morning.

"Anytime an officer encounters graffiti (especially offensive graffiti of this nature) we request expedited removal by the city's team," Myesha Morrison, the Santa Monica Police Department's public information coordinator, told City News Service Sunday.

"There were additional reports of graffiti that we believe were missed during the first clean-up effort."

The Pico neighborhood, between the 2100 and 2300 blocks of Pico Boulevard, was among the locations the graffiti was found, Morrison said.

The Santa Monica Police Department is dedicating resources to identify the offender and urging anyone with information about these acts to come forward, Chief Ramon Batista said.

"Let me be clear: There is no place for hate in Santa Monica," Batista said. "We are appalled by these cowardly acts of antisemitism. Our department is fully committed to upholding the safety and dignity of all members of our community."

Those wishing to report newly discovered graffiti were asked to call 310-458-8491 or utilize the Santa Monica 3-1-1 app.
